And Megan phoned the next day to explain that she had gone to the wrong venue! She had been working late, had trouble finding somewhere to park near the “Crown”, queued at the bar for a drink, before going upstairs to find herself at the wrong party!

Oh well, what can you say.

From Richard Jacques, chairman of LHG

"I think I'm going to count Wednesday evening's event as a success. About eighteen people turned up over the evening. A few left a little early. One or two arrived quite late. At least four who were definitely expected didn't arrive, not bringing friends and partners. However, a good time was had by all who did turn up. We had half a dozen from the Merseyside Skeptics, two or three from Philosophy in Pubs, Sam from the University Group, a pair of new members at their first event, and a group of old and familiar friends. The raffle was a great success, and raised £52 for the Uganda Humanist Schools Trust. I even managed to win the one prize I hadn't contributed myself:- a copy of the Gnostic Gospels. I'm sure the bottle of champagne, box of dark fairtrade chocolates, and copy of "The Atheist's Guide to Christmas" will be enjoyed and appreciated by their respective winners.

Afterwards we had party games: "Consequences" and "Humanist Christmas Carols". And lots of very convivial talk and discussion.

The food and wine was good. The company was great. A warm and cosy evening on a cold and wet December night in Liverpool."
